Swaine Adeney – Founded as a whip makers business in 1750 expanding to become the highly regarded producer of quality handcrafted luxury leather goods that it is today. Famously we have crafted luggage for 007 and the Kingsman movies.
Brigg Umbrellas – Established in 1836 and merging with Swaine Adeney in 1943. The Brigg umbrella is famous for its high quality and long history supplying Royal Families, Prime Ministers and distinguished ladies & gentlemen around the World. Today, we are still crafting reputedly the best bespoke umbrellas in the world from our workshops in England.
Papworth Leather Travel Goods – Established in the early 1900’s joining the Swaine Adeney Brigg Group in 1997. For over three quarters of a century this Cambridgeshire based company have produced luggage of distinction and quality. From the distinctive style of our suitcase to the classic cut of our briefcases, the Papworth signature is always unmistakable.
Herbert Johnson Hatters – Founded in 1889, our name and established brand has always stood for quality, craftsmanship and classic styling. Makers of the highest quality handcrafted bespoke headwear. We have been both hatters to Royalty and stars of the silver screen. Most renowned for our 'Poet' style famously worn by Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones and David Bowie in 'The man who fell to earth'. Herbert Johnson Military Headwear – Founded in 1889, joining Swaine Adeney Brigg in 1996, Herbert Johnson Military are providers of fine military uniform and dress hats, caps & berets. A bespoke service is available for most types of uniform headwear. Best known for our innovation of designing the 'floating bevel' style hats in World War I, a concept much preferred and widely adopted ever since.
Herbert Johnson London – Becoming part of the Swaine Adeney Brigg Group in 2018, the newly re-christened HJ London Team and Workshop bring with them their prestige and long heritage of fine hardened felt hatting under their former name of Patey Hats that can trace their history back to 1695. Makers of fine handcrafted bespoke headwear, including top hats, bowler hats, flat caps, traditional riding hats and uniform headwear for the service industry, hotels, chauffeurs and more. They also continue their traditional role as providers of the London Lord Mayor's ceremonial tricorn to this day. Herbert Johnson Hatters commissioned Patey's Hats to create Patrick Macnee’s famous Steed bowler hat for the original 1961 British TV series 'The Avengers'.

Herbert Johnson Hatters became part of the Swaine Adeney Brigg Group in 1996 but enjoyed a renaissance in late 2017 under a new management team. The new team's driving force was to bring the brand back to It's roots and to rediscover the art, skills and knowledge of British heritage handcrafted hat making at our new in-house bespoke hatting workshop. With the determination to offer the superior quality, character and bespoke service that can only be achieved through creating every hat to order from start to finish completely by hand by a skilled hatter.
We are delighted to welcome our new colleagues from the HJ Traditional & Patey Military teams who joined the Swaine Adeney Group back in 2018.
